Worsley Methodist Church

Worsley Methodist Church is the oldest Methodist Church in the area and retains much of its original charm and character. The Worsley Society was first founded in 1784 and existed in Worsley flour mill (near the Delph) for a number of years until the chapel was built in 1801. The Sunday School was started in 1814 and brought education to the area, as many people could not read or write. Over the years the Church and  Sunday School have been at the centre of the community: in the past we have had cricket teams, tennis courts, drama productions, choirs, etc.

We are still a friendly and welcoming church that has close links with the community- we are represented on the Worsley Community Association and the Community Committee. As well as the weekly services we regularly hold special services : harvest , Easter and our famous Carol Service, when the church is beautifully decorated.

The church is the ideal place for a wedding, funeral or Christening. Please ring the minister, Rev. Ian Humphreys on 790 2574 for details.

We also have various sized rooms for hire: contact Charles Ogden 790 2125. For many years we have had a successful Ladies Fellowship which meets every fortnight on Tuesday at 8pm. For details please ring Mrs Doreen Sutton on 288 2677.
