Boothstown Methodist School opened in 1884, but the present building is a mix of 1970's architecture and modern building. It is a voluntary controlled school under the guidance of Salford Local Authority and the Methodist Church.
The fundamental aim of all at Boothstown Methodist is to create a family atmosphere and a caring, happy and active school with high academic and social standards. The Christian ethos of our school is a viable foundation which shapes and affects our attitude to learning and to each other. Children who are happy in school produce works of quality that reflect their mental outlook. They will always be encouraged to have enquiring minds, good habits of self discipline, self esteem, self awareness and a reasoned set of values and attitudes.
These values were put to the test when the Headteacher received the dreaded phonecall from the OFSTED inspectors! There followed a rollercoaster of emotions. As a staff we tried to balance preparing for the inspection with our weekly shop at Somerfield. Although the school was judged to be good with outstanding features, the shopping at Somerfield proved to be outstanding with some good features, such as the 2 for 1 bargains.
It was evident that staff took the inspection seriously, when the car park was full by 7am (Mrs Winstanley had camped out all night with excitement). The inspectors were full of praise for the children - it was a good job we borrowed them from St Andrew's. We knew the inspection would go well when all our children said really nice things to the inspectors, because in our school every child flatters.
Staff slept well that night, even Mrs Winstanley in the carpark ,and we were eager and fresh ready to meet the challenges of the next day. The inspectors were full of praise for the staff - it was a good job we borrowed them from St Andrew's as well.
The inspectors gave us a really good report. The Somerfield best buy out of date food parcels had paid dividends as they left the school proudly with their carrier bags.
On a serious note, we were all pleased with the result of our inspection. In particular the pupils' personal development and well-being was judged as being outstanding. It was said that pupils loved coming to school and grow into confident and mature young people. Their behaviour and manners are exemplary. Parents are unanimous in valuing highly the education the school provides for the children.

It would be wrong not to mention the 'outstanding' support given to us by the governing body.
