Children’s and youth work is very important to us within our Circuit. Many of our churches run weekly groups for children and young people during the Sunday morning services, and have close ties with the uniformed organisations that meet at them.
St Catherine’s has a mid-week evening Family Communion service, which is accessible and enjoyable for families to attend. This takes place at 7pm on Thursday evenings.
Our Circuit Youth group is called Unite, and is split into two streams: Youth and Sports. Unite Youth & Unite Sports is open to young people in Year 6 and above, and our mission is to build a strong community which wholeheartedly welcomes and provides opportunities for support and growth for all young people through play, discussion and sports, at any and every stage in their journey with God. Unite meets at Christ Church, Little Lever on Fridays 7:30pm-9pm.
Naomi, our children’s and youth worker works with Boothstown and St Andrew’s Methodist Primary Schools, as well as Mytham, North Walkden and Spindle Point Primary Schools. She leads assemblies, alongside the ministers, and arranges RE activities over the course of the school year, such as Easter Experience. She also supports and runs clubs and worship councils, filled with fun activities.
We also run Messy Church services in many churches across the Circuit, on a half-termly basis. Messy Church is a time for parents and children to have fun and explore faith together, involving creativity, celebration and hospitality. Information about upcoming Messy Church events will be added to this page
During the summer, we hold one week Holiday Clubs in various churches around the Circuit for primary school aged children, packed with games, crafts, food, music and plenty of fun. In summer 2016 we went on mini-expeditions as part of the Polar Explorers team, to learn more about what it means to be part of God’s big expedition, and we learnt that you can never be too ordinary/near or far/bad/young/old/ANYTHING to be part of God’s team.
Please check back for news and updates about events happening around the Circuit.
