Welcome to the Farnworth and Worsley website. We are part of the Bolton & Rochdale Methodist District.
The Circuit has seen many changes over the last few years.
The Farnworth and Worsley Circuit was created in September 2003, bringing together the two previous circuits of Farnworth and - you've guessed it - Worsley.
Our staff team currently consists of 2 Methodist ministers, 2 ministers from other denominations and 2 layworkers to cover 10 churches (three of which are LEPs; one is in a special Covenant Agreement with the Circuit), and two Methodist Primary schools. We meet regularly for fellowship and to discuss circuit matters; we are a strong team, each with different skills and abilities which when put together works well for the Circuit as a whole; on occasion, we meet socially and for Quiet Times throughout the year too.
A new initiative took place in January 2006, when a Methodist minister was inducted as minister of Wharton URC. This benefits both Wharton and the Farnworth and Worsley Circuit, as we share in a special Covenant Agreement.Wharton shares this 'section' of the Circuit with Cleggs Lane and Christ Church, Little Lever. Since this time, the Methodist minister has moved on to pasture new, and a URC minister, Revd Philip Brook, has joined the team, bringing with him a fresh approach to circuit life.
I hope you enjoy browsing this site!
